Weymouth

Wessex Stadium on Radipole Lane, Weymouth opened for greyhound racing and speedway in 1954. A couple of stock car meetings were trialled in September and were a great success. The stadium held a few meetings every summer throughout the 1950s until the popularity waned. The August 1958 event attracted only 10 cars and a less than complimentary report in the local press, and no further meetings were staged until Spedeworth ran some F2 meetings in the 1960s. Speedway ran until 1985.

Today it is the site of the Bob Lucas Stadium, built in 1987, and home to Weymouth FC.
