New Cross

Situated near Old Kent Road in South East London, New Cross Stadium was built as an athletics ground in the early 1900s. A greyhound track was added in 1933, and the following year a speedway track was built.

The first ever UK stock car meeting took place on Good Friday, April 16th 1954. The track was tiny, and after a few sell-out meetings, the promotion moved to the much bigger Harringay, although the stock cars returned for one season in 1968 while Harringay was being refurbished.

The stadium closed in 1969 and was demolished in 1975.
