Woolwich

Situated on Stadium Road on Woolwich Common, opposite Queen Elizabeth Hospital, it was originally known as the Garrison Athletic Ground and belonged to the Woolwich Royal Artillery. It was a sports field with a cinder track around the outside and a large grandstand, capacity approx 1,260.

Mainly used for local sporting events, although the 1924 Women's Amateur Athletics Association Championship was held there. Harness racing (horse racing with a horse and 2-wheeled cart) was introduced in 1957, with stock car racing appearing late the following year. However, only four meetings were held, quite possibly because it was government owned.

Part of the stadium is now the hospital car park and the rest has returned to grassland on Woolwich Common, although the footings for the grandstand are still visible in the undergrowth.

The ground was also used for training manoeuvres by the military.
