Spike Rhiando

Deptford, Kent

14A (1954)

Alvin "Spike" Rhiando was a star of 500cc midget car racing in the late 1940s and early 1950s. Born in Saskatchewan, Canada, he moved to England in 1933 with the aim of establishing American-style Midget racing on the existing motorcycle cinder tracks. This didn't take off, but he collaborated with John Cooper, later of Mini fame, on the Cooper MkII, before building the Trimax, which was his own design.
