  BriSCA F1 European Championship

The European Championship is contested over a summer's racing weekend at Northampton. Qualifying races run on the Saturday evening meeting and the championship race is run on the Sunday afternoon before the start of a regular meeting of heats, finals and grand national. The weekend often attracts a strong showing of Dutch fans and drivers, though the title has not yet been taken overseas.

Since 2005 the European Champion has been awarded the right to wear a red and yellow checked roof. 2005 winner Paul Hines carried the checks on his roof until losing the title to Frankie Wainman Jnr in summer 2006. Frankie Wainman was at the time both National Series (silver roof) and World Champion (gold roof) so didn't use the red/yellow checks, though after losing both of the other major titles he is widely expected to carry the red/yellow checks as part of his 2007 colour scheme.

2007 European Champion: 322 James Neachell

Notes
1978 - Run over two meetings, Long Eaton on the Saturday and Rochdale on the Sunday. Stu Smith drew level on points with Mike Close and the two had a 5-lap run off to decide the winner.
1980 - We think that there was no European Championship this year
1996 - This was the start of the Northampton European Speedweekends

Do you know the top three finishers in the European Championship?
Please get in touch if you can help to complete this table.
