Security is a big feature on the Stoxnet forum, and to that end, all passwords are encrypted when you register. This means that we cannot email your password to you as we hold no record of your 'uncrypted' password. You can however, apply to have your password reset using the Password Reset page.
- You'll need to enter either your forum username (as you'd use to log in) or the email address that your username is associated with. You'll also need to type in the 6 characters that appear in the security code image: sometimes these can be particularly difficult to read, so if you get a tough one, just click on the image and you'll get a new one.
- You don't need to email me to ask for help - the forum will send you an email containing a special link that you have to click on. The email ought to arrive immediately, but allow 10-15 minutes just in case.
- If you don't receive the email you should check your 'Spam', 'Junk Email' or 'Bulk Email' folders because sometimes the automated messages can get picked up by excitable mail filters. The email will be 'from' forum@stoxnet.com, so if you regularly have problems with poor mail filtering, please add that address to your 'allowed senders' or 'white list'. I can't tell you how to do that, you'll need to check with your email provider/program's instructions.
- When you click on the link in the email you'll be brought back to the Stoxnet forum and you'll be asked to to type in the 6 characters from a new security code image. Once you do this, the forum will send you a second email - this time containing a new password.
- The forum isn't very good at choosing passwords that are easy to remember: the one it gave me while I was writing these instructions was 3a253b1f51ca3b1, so you'll probably want to change yours to something a bit more memorable. To do this, simply log in with your new password, click "My Controls" at the top of any forum page and then "Change Password" from the menu that shows on the left.
