Logging in
- The "Remember me" setting works by setting a cookie on your computer. Contrary to the scare stories that are spread by people who don't understand them, cookies are completely safe. Cookies are enabled by default on your computer, so they will only be disabled if you have turned them off yourself, or if you have installed some bogus 'security software'. Instructions for turning cookies on again and configuring security software are beyond the scope of this message - if you have altered things you'll need to look up how to undo your changes on your own.
- If you are sure that you haven't turned cookies off, and haven't installed any over-zealous security software, your fix is easy:
- Close all of the windows in your web browser except for one
- (If you are using Internet Explorer 7, Firefox, or other multi-tabbed browsers, close all of the tabs except for one)
- Visit http://forum.stoxnet.com/index.php?act=idx and log in
- Click on "Delete cookies set by this board" (in a light blue box on the right hand side, just above the list of members currently logged in)
- Close your web browser window
- Re-open your web browser, log in, and provided you tick the "Remember me" option, you should remain logged in.
- The "Remember me" option previously remembered you until you logged out. It has now changed so that it remembers you for a week. After a week, you'll need to log in again, selecting the "Remember me" option again if you want to stay logged in for another week.
Lost passwords
Security is a big feature on this board, and to that end, all passwords are encrypted when you register.
This means that we cannot email your password to you as we hold no record of your 'uncrypted' password. You can however, apply to have your password reset.
Full instructions are available on the Lost Password page.
